The FAB 1 is a faithful reproduction of the model used in the original Thunderbirds™ series and is supplied with it's own presentation acrylic display case with an etched brass plaque featuring unique edition number.

Each FAB 1 has an Individually numbered certificate with a signature of authenticity from the creater of Thunderbirds™, Gerry Anderson.

Where did the name for the series come from?

The name for the famous series was taken from a story told by Gerry Anderson's older brother.

His brother was training with the RAF in Arizona and learned to fly at Falcon field. He recalled that the neighbouring field used by the USAF was called Thunderbird Field.

Gerry thought the name was exciting and it remained at the back of his mind for 20 years before using it for the Thunderbirds series.

What inspired the Thunderbirds story?

Towards the end of filming the Stingray series in 1963, the television producer Gerry Anderson was under pressure to come up with a new idea for a series.

During this time there was a mine disaster in Germany and Gerry recalled the terrifying story of thirty men that were trapped 300 feet under ground in flooded pits.

To save the men the rescuers had to drill a hole firstly to supply the men with air and food and then a hole big enough to bring them out.

Gerry Anderson felt sorry for the men but was also fascinated by what the rescuers needed to to get them out, as the drill need was in another part of the country.

This inspired his idea for a science fiction rescue team that would fly to the disaster zone with heavy equipment. Villains would constantly be after the amazing equipment used during their missions so the international rescue team would need to be secret and based in an isolated location, an island in the Pacific.

FAB 1 the most famous Rolls-Royce

The largest 'regular' model to appear in the series was Lady Penelope's FAB 1 Rolls-Royce.



Originally built to a size that would accommodate the 2-feet-tall puppets of Lady Penelope and Parker, the finished model was 7 feet long.

The exclusive model in the display case is 47cm long. The FAB 1 also includes the characters Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward and Aloysius Parker.

Lady Penelope appears to those ignorant of her secret life to be just as much a member of the English landed gentry but is really a vital member and performs dangerous assignments for International Rescue.

In his early days Parker soon gained a reputation for himself as one of the world's finest safe-crackers and cat buglers.

After he was caught by Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward while he was helping himself to the contents of an oil tycoon's safe, Penelope offered him a working partnership in her espionage activities as she saw an opportunity to use his great talents.

This limited Signature Edition of Thunderbirds FAB 1 Rolls-Royce with a certificate signed by Gerry Anderson is not to be missed for the avid collector.
