An ancient map of Middle-earth is mounted below the playing surface, and the base features actual images of the memorable characters and scenes from the thrilling New Line Cinema motion picture.

The 32 playing pieces are precise miniature sculptures in fine pewter of the actual cast members and each likeness is so realistic-they were personally approved by the individual actor.

Each piece measures between 2 - 3 inches in height and bears an incredible likeness to the actor as it was personally approved by each of them.

Some of the pieces included are: Arwen, Aragorn, Gandalf, Galadriel, Boromir, Pippin, Frodo, Sam, Merry, four different Orcs, Orthanc Tower, Cave Troll, Ringwraith, Saruman, Lurtz, and Uruk-Hai.

The top of the board is plexi-glass and the rest of the board is made out of cold cast porcelain. Hero pieces have a green ring around the bottom and villain pieces have a purple ring around the bottom. A heavyweight item, this is a chess set that will be treasured for generations.

The board measures 15 by 15 by 4.5 inches.
