Afterwards France and England fought fiercely in French soil over control of France and began the world-known Hundred Years War. King Edward III of England and his son the Black Prince led large numbers of troops to France and fought with French cavalry in Crecy. They managed to occupy Calais and capture the French king. After that the son of the French king commanded the French cavalry to fight hard against England and took back their own territories continuously. During this period, many brave and great French people such as Joan of Arc, the toughest fighter, appeared and wrote down glorious chapters in French history.
