I bought one of these after my friend said, "hey they have these really cool virtual pets at sears, me and my sister got them and so should you. They are only 3 dollars. So I would say it is a great product, a little confusing with the controls at first if you are used to the tamagotchi but it is a treat and fun tool to help kids learn how to take care of a pet. CONS: you cant pause it, or turn the beeping off, and it doesn't exactly sleep at night, well, it takes regular naps so it always seem to be asleep when you want to play with it but sill managed to wake me up in the middle of the night. luckily, the sound isn't too loud. And the last problem I had was out of the two games, even after reading the directions, I still can't figure out the egg catching game. it just wont work! The other game is a breeze, very cool. Over all this is a fun, extremely inexpensive pet that will gave you a bang for your buck.
So I got one of these the other day, My mom went out shopping found them for 2 dollers at our local store and brings me home one as a surprise...
When I see "49 in one" I thought "Okay another mass-clone from the east" And what I mean by mass clone is that it uses a ton of stock graphics from a large pool of other virtual pets. Of course this is quite a common thing as anyone who has owned several keychain virtual pets knows and it doesn't automatically make it a bad product.
I haven't had the pet very long but there is one thing that bothered me more than anything else about it. One of the 49 pets you can have is a "Girl" yes that is right a human girl. Okay so it's not too huge a deal many other keychain pets offer a "child" but usually they will include both genders. Like I said, no huge deal breaker but it's slightly sexist as there is no "boy" (But relax there is a robot!)
Another major problem is that the toy resets VERY easily. When I activated it the very first time, after picking my pet (The girl out of morbid curiosity) and set the time and having fed her to fullness she fell asleep for a while so I set her down. The problem is that I set her down on my Wacom tablette without thinking and the magnets in it cause the pet to reset. Yes my own fault so I restarted and picked a different pet (The robot this time) and again after feeding and careing for him it fell asleep and I decided to safely tuck it away in my shirt pocket. Well I had forgotten him and kneeled down to grab somthing later and he came tumbling out and reset on impact.
My point is that any child you buy this for is likley going to treat it rougher and it will most likley be constantly resetting.
Now a good thing is that this is a very easy to care for Virtual pet, it has 2 different games to play for the pet and it takes regular long naps. (Making up for the lack of a pause feature)
The pets are also widley varied and I think that any collector of keychain pets will definately want to add this inexpensive one to the stash.
